Sergio Busquets and Eric Abidal will not be lining up for Barcelona
in the game against Bayern Munich due to injury problems. The
'Azulgrana' club has confirmed that the midfielder has not been able to
recover from his groin strain in time, while the French defender is also
still struggling with a calf injury he picked up last Saturday in Bilbao.
The players that have been called up by Tito Vilanova are: Valdés, Pinto, Dani Alves, Piqué, Fàbregas, Xavi, Villa, Iniesta, Alexis, Messi, Thiago, Dos Santos, Bartra, Pedro, Montoya, Adriano, Song, Tello and Sergi Roberto.
Sergio Busquets was the biggest concern for Tito Vilanova. A key player for Barça, even more so for a game like this, where not conceding goals is crucial, and in which the 'Azulgrana' side will run defensive risks. But Busquets was not fit - providing Cameroon player Alex Song with a golden opportunity to step in and prove himself.
The Catalan has been suffering from a persistent groin strain for some time now, demonstrated by the fact he has not played a Spanish League match for the past month. The last full game he played was on March 17th against Rayo, followed by seven minutes in Vigo.
Busquets showed that he was not on his usual form in the Champions League - almost unrecognizable in Munich. Not only did he fail to regain ball possession, but Schweinsteiger, Müller and co. moved through his area without any apparent difficulty whatsoever.
