Luis Enrique: Rebel with a Cause

By on 20:31

The Luis Enrique revolution has already taken a hold of 'Can Barça'. Only a month of this year's season has been necessary to see that the club's new manager is a man on a mission. The Asturian is out to rtecover the all-powerful Barça of old and already many changes can be appreciated in la Liga's current leader.
- No more holes in the defensive line: Although Barcelona's defence has not been put to the test against a big rival yet, the truth is that the team is looking pretty tight at the back, a far cry from the house of cards that they had in place last season. Getting back their intensity, pressing for the ball at all levels on the pitch, behaving with more control and discipline during set pieces, plus the presence of newbie Mathieu, have seen Barça not concede a single goal in the four games they have played so far.
- The Youth Academy as a centrepiece: With 'Tata', hopes of using the Youth Academy starlets soon died a death. This season, Munir's explosiveness, the opportune presence of Sandro and Samper's contributions in the Champions League opener are just a few examples of what the Barça youngsters have to offer under Luis Enrique.
- Nobody is untouchable: Great names such as ALves, Xavi and Piqué all know what it is to do bench warming duty under the new Barça – something unthinkable in seasons past. Whoever is not on top form will find himself off the list. Simple as that. The new manager couldn't care less who it may be or what past glories have been achieved.
