Barcelona takes action against Ferrán Soriano

By on 16:06

The war between Sandro Rosell and Ferrán Soriano has taken another twist. Barcelona has filed a lawsuit against the former director and against Joan Oliver (former general director of the Catalan club) accusing them of misappropriation of funds, fraudulent administration and of revealing secrets.
It is believed the motive of the lawsuit is the alleged espionage by Soriano on club employees, with their emails being spied on due to the information leakage that was occurring at the club at the time.
Another case of espionage occurred when Oliver was general director at the club, this time targeting four vice-presidents of the entity.
All of these investigations cost Barcelona €3 million, although there are no reports in the club on their findings.
Both Soriano and Oliver are expected to testify in court on 30th May. Both men live outside Spain. Soriano works in sports management for Manchester City, along with former Barça director Txiki Begiristain.
