Real Madrid's President paid a visit to the Ramón Mendoza supporters' club on Sunday and tells fans that they must be united.
The Ramón Mendoza supporters' club celebrated its 25th anniversary on Sunday and to mark the occasion, a number of distinguished guests paid a visit. Club President Florentino Pérez and his predecessor Lorenzo Sanz attended the festivities together with first team players past and present syuch as: Adán, Nacho, Miguel Torres and Pepe - the latter being named an honorary member of the affiliation.Florentino gave a speech in which he stressed the importance of being unified ahead of the most crucial weeks of the campaign: "Real Madrid confronts a spectacular month of May, with the Champions League, Copa del Rey final and Final Four of the Euroleague. Being President at Real Madrid is difficult - as is being the coach at this club but we have to learn to live with it. We can argue amongst ourselves but we must remain united," he told supporters.
Several supporters' club members asked about the possibility that Raúl might return to the club, to which the President responded: "Raúl hasn't left; he is simply spending a short while away in Germany and Qatar. This is his home and he will return".
One group offered to make a contribution to ensure Cristiano Ronaldo renews terms with the club but Pérez insisted, "Relax, we will renew his contract and it will be the club who pays". When the same group made a plea to keep Mourinho at the Bernabéu, the president just smiled.
Former Madrid President Lorenzo Sanz meanwhile lauded his successor, saying, "Real Madrid is in the best hands. Florentino, I am at your service for whatever you might need. Let's hope the team gets to Wembley and faces Bayern in the final".
