Aitor Karanka, assistant manager of Real Madrid, gave maximum
importance to this weekend's derby against Atlético de Madrid: "It's of
vital importance. It's a game against a club that hasn't beaten us for a
long time – we will have to play with the same intensity as they will.
They're a tough team to beat at home, and the second position is at
stake. And it's the city's derby..." Karanka pointed out.
Talking about the upcoming game, he revealed that CR7 wouldn't be on the list: "Cristiano has not been called up; today he hasn't trained and we´ll just have to see how he gets on. He has a muscular problem that is steadily getting better. Today he hasn't been able to train, but we trust that he will be ready for Tuesday."
"Marcelo and Arbeloa are also out for tomorrow's game. The others are all fine, and tomorrow we'll see which eleven is the best to win the game for us", he added.
He also took time to comment on the controversial insults shouted to the players at Munster airport: "We have always asked for the public's support at the Bernabéu.
What we have to understand is that after the game against Dortmund, after people have spent their money to go there...that they have all the right to do that (insult the players). It's quite clear that they're not going to cheer or applaud you."
"When we came three years ago, we weren't even seeded in the Champions League. Now we're in the semi-finals", he reminded all present, referring to the club's much improved present situation.
