Modric, Diego López and Benzema all train apart from the main group inside the gym. Those who started against Betis wind down with a light recovery workout.
Real Madrid began preparing for Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg on Sunday and once again, José Mourinho drafted reserve team midfielder Casemiro to train alongside the senior players.Casemiro, who joined Real Madrid Castilla on loan from Sao Paulo in January, made his first team debut in Saturday's 3-1 win over Betis and his assured performance may have convinced the coach to include him again in the squad to face Borussia Dortmund.
There was some comforting news for Mourinho at the sight of Álvaro Arbeloa out on the practice pitches in Valdebebas. The full-back did not join his team mates but did work with the ball for the first time since his recent back problems. Luka Modric, Diego López and Karim Benzema meanwhile, trained inside the club gym.
The remaining players were split into three separate groups: the goalkeepers Casillas, Adán and Jesús worked with Silvino Louro while those who were in the starting line-up against Betis: Varane, Carvalho, Nacho, Albiol, Casemiro, Callejón, Özil and Cristiano Ronaldo were eased through a light recovery workout by Rui Faria. The third group focused on ball work, shooting practice and a variety of physical exercises.
