Real's two
most recent games have seen the unleashing of 'hurricane' Bale. Against Elche,
his goal - which he fired in at over 100km/h - must be a candidate for goal of
the season, whilst in Germany he tore through Schalke's defence to claim two
goals and an assist.
His stats,
despite him not playing even half of Real's games this season, are just the tip
of the iceberg. 14 competitive goals (10 in La Liga and 4 in the Champions
League) and a handful of assists are just the beginning for a player signed to
make history at Real Madrid.
His
presentation during the first derby of the season is now just a bad memory for
Bale, who then went on to have a string of muscular injuries. That night was
Bale's Bernabeu debut. The Welshman, out of shape and with less than three
weeks in the Spanish capital, had no idea what he was getting into. Filipe Luis
showed him that La Liga can be just as physical as the Premier League. Bale
soon lost heart and went down with a generally lacklustre Real Madrid.
The Welsh
wizard now arrives at the Calderón in peak physical condition having started
every one of Real's last five games and only missed the last 11 minutes of the
Champions League game against Schalke, with the game well and truly over at
5-0.
