"We have to turn things around"

By on 00:00

Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid's second captain, was critical of his side's performance at the Balaídos, where they lost 2-0 to Celta, and admitted that they were not "up to scratch": "This can't happen in the final in Lisbon, because we'll lose".

"After having a great season in this competition, the team were not up to scratch and we've let the league slip away in a very bad way for us. We can't feel sorry for ourselves or let the team's morale drop. We have to turn things around for the final games", assured Ramos.

The Spanish defender was even sorrier about the defeat which leaves Real out of the title race after learning that Barcelona drew in Elche and Atlético de Madrid only managed a point at the Vicente Calderón against Málaga.

"You head home feeling sad and disappointed because you let your only chance of challenging for the title get away. You realise that the Spanish league is the best in the world because any team can beat you. No-one would have expected Barcelona and Atlético not to win", he acknowledged.

"Now it is time to think about the Champions League final and look at our mistakes. Other seasons were amazing if we won the cup, and we've won it this year. We've played our hearts out and tried to do the best we can. We shouldn't view this season as a failure", he added.
