Real Madrid set off for the United States this morning, where they will remain until at least 2nd August. If 'Los Blancos' reach the final of the International Champions Cup, they will play on the 4th before returning to Madrid to begin preparations for the European Super Cup (12th August) and the Spanish Super Cup (19th and 22nd).
After training at Valdebebas today, Monday, their flight from Madrid's Barajas airport departed at around 1 pm. On board was a Real Madrid squad packed with home-grown players - the nine revealed by MARCA previously - with Xabi, Pepe and Coentrao being the latest additions. Xabi and Pepe trained with their teammates at Valdebebas. The right back, however, was still unable to train after getting injured during the Brazil World Cup (against Germany), but he will continue his recovery in the company of the rest of the Madrid squad making the trip.
The flight from Madrid will arrive in Los Angeles at around 01:00(Spanish time), with the clocks nine hours behind in California. 'Los Blancos' will stay at the Mirage Hotel in Beverly Hills, and will once again use the UCLA installations for training.
The reigning European champions play their first match on 27th July at 00:10 Spanish time against Inter Milan in Berkeley. Three days later, on Wednesday 30th, they play Roma in Dallas. The final group match will be played on Saturday 2nd August against Manchester United in Ann Arbor.
Squad:
Goalkeepers: Diego López, Jesús and Pacheco.
Defenders: Pepe, Carvajal, Coentrão, Arbeloa, Nacho, D. Llorente and Derik.
Midfielders: Bale, Xabi Alonso, Isco, Illarra, M. Llorente, Medrán, Lucas and Mascarell.
Forwards: Sobrino and De Tomás.
