The big news for Saturday's game between Barcelona and Mallorca could
be Eric Abidal making his much-awaited return to the playing field, one
year on from undergoing a kidney transplant.
Injuries, together with the team's need to save players for the crucial tie against PSG next Wednesday, mean that the defender could get a chance to return to the team. Abidal has travelled with the team for Bacelona's last two games, although he was only watching from the stands against Paris.
Vilanova will field a much changed side from the one that he lined up at the Parc des Princes ground. He'll be forced into three changes, with Messi and Mascherano out injured and and Valdés still suspended. Also, Alba and Xavi played on Tuesday without being fully fit, so ideally they should be rested.
Then there's Piqué, and logic dictates that Tito should rest him too, since he can’t afford for the defender to pick up even the smallest injury.
