Iker Casillas returns to the Real Madrid squad against Levante

Madrid assistant coach Aitor Karanka said the team were happy to have their captain back, but refused to say if Casillas has been training well or badly.

Iker Casillas has been named in Real Madrid's squad to face Levante on Saturday at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Madrid captain has not played any football since fracturing his hand at the end of January during a Copa del Rey match with Valencia.

Madrid assistant coach Aitor Karanka explained "he is now fit to play" but refused to comment on how the goalkeeper was training.
"I don't have to evaluate if he is training well or badly, I can only say that he is important to us."
Former Italy and AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi, who was Madrid's sporting director between 2004 and 2005, caused controversy during the week by saying on Italian television that Casillas "has never trained well".
The Italian later went back on his words during an interview with radio station COPE, saying: "Iker Casillas trained quite well at Real Madrid."
Having Iker with us again is very reassuring," added Karanka.
"Yesterday he played an 11-a-side match and we are happy that he has returned."
The assistant coach did not say whether Casillas would start the game or be on the bench, but José Mourinho has said that Diego López will maintain his place in the starting line-up against Levante.
However, Karanka alluded to Diego López's form, in reference to Madrid now having a full squad to choose from.
He said. "Having all your players available is vital in a squad as good as ours. It's good for those who play and it's good for those that aren't playing, because it's a sign that they need to keep training. That's how we are managing the cases of Varane and Pepe or Casillas and Diego López. Diego is doing all his talking on the pitch."
Karanka also spoke about Pepe coming to terms with being a substitute, due to the consistently high performances of 19-year-old Raphael Varane.
"Pepe is a sub like any other player. We are paid to choose a starting line-up we think is adequate regardless of what people say in surveys and debates.
"That's the main job of a coach: pick the best team for each game. It's easy to be left out of the squad and very hard to get into it, as every player knows. It's a new situation for Pepe, but he is coping with it well. He has been working even harder so he can return to being what he always has been: a vital player for Real Madrid."
