Man U, Manchester City and PSG, vying for Di María

By on 20:25

Ángel di María already has one foot outside of Real Madrid. Three teams have made enquiries about 'El Fideo': PSG, Manchester United and Manchester City. The trading floor is now open...
Interest from PSG and United isn't new. Back in February, this newspaper reported that both clubs were keeping tabs on his situation. Ferrán Soriano's City side has recently joined the race, with both him and the club's owner, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al Nahyan, enjoying excellent relationships with Florentino.
PSG has been moving fast in recent weeks and looks to be in pole position to sign him. The team's macro-project continues to rumble on, and signing the player from Rosario is one of the club's main objectives. There are already two Argentines playing in the French capital, Pastore and Lavezzi, and the latter, in particular, is good friends with Di María
City has an advantage though, in that the Premier League is more appealing than the French league, and The Citizens also have another Argentine friend of Di María - Kun Agüero. The arrival of 'El Fideo' at City would most likely go hand-in-hand with the Nasri's exit.
The third club in the race is United. Di María has long been a target for Ferguson, who was already interested in him back when he played for Benfica. Despite the Premier League champions not having the same spending power as their noisy neighbours, sir Alex recently said: "We're competitive in the market - we're not Chelsea or Manchester City in terms of money but we're competitive. We've been doing a bit of work on that over the last three or four months, targeting who the players are that we feel could enhance us, make us better or help us maintain the level we're at", and one of those players is Di María.
