Víctor Valdés appeared on the programme 'El Hormiguero' and made
headlines. The shot-stopper insisted that he will still leave at the end
of the season: "There is an enormous amount of pressure on a
goalkeeper. The club offered me a new contract, but I didn't even want
to negotiate. There are a whole host of reasons – seeking new
challenges, a new league."
With respect to this season, Valdés said, "I feel like people understand me. I've felt the support of the fans this year."
The Barcelona keeper also remarked on David Villa's move to Atlético de Madrid: "It was sad for me because he was a really good friend. We took our kids to the same school. We really relied on each another," he said.
Neymar was another of the names which cropped up in the conversation. "He looked more radical at Santos, and I told him I thought he looked better with his Mohican, that it was scarier. He told me to wait a week and now he's got it back," he said laughing.
The funniest moment of the evening was when they gave him a quiz and asked him: "What would scare you most – facing Pepe in a dark alleyway or a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty?" He did not have to think twice: "Pepe."
Víctor Valdés also expressed his support for Casillas: "He had a tough time last year. He's working hard. He's looking good and I wish him the best." He ended the programme to applause and signed autographs for those present.
