Sergio Ramos made comparisons between Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi in
an interview with 'Movistar'. "People always say that Messi is the best
player in the world, but he is perhaps slightly behind Cris at the
moment", he said.
"The Ballon d'Or should go to the best footballer at the time and the differences in their personalities should not come in to it", he added.
Ramos also spoke about Tata Martino's current Barça side. "Barça has the same identity and playing philosophy, but perhaps other teams have worked out how they play and that is why we are seeing a different Barcelona at times", he said.
Desire to play at centre-back
The player spoke of his versatility on the playing field, while stressing that he prefers playing in the middle. "Sometimes there can be surprises in important games in the Champions League or 'La Liga'. If you're told about it there's no problem, because I can adapt well to play at full-back, but I prefer to have a more fixed position", he added.
"I would say the central position, as I've been playing there for the national team and Real Madrid in recent years. This is where I've found stability and reached a good level of performance which I would like to maintain", said the defender.
Ramos went on to speak about the inclusion of Diego Costa in the 'La Roja' set-up. "Everyone who comes into the national team and wants to defend Spain will be well received".
The defender concluded by talking of his wish to lift the Champions League: "It's a special tournament and one of the few competitions I've yet to win".
