Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué’s goal against Celtic saw the player
score the Blaugrana’s 1000th goal in international competition.
According to the Catalan club, the mark comes after a total of 509 matches, with an average of 1.97 goals per game. Barça’s statistics include the 1975/76 UEFA Cup last-32 encounter with Lazio, which did not go ahead after the Italians failed to turn up (Barça were awarded a 3-0 win).
