Ronaldo out to do it for Eusébio

By on 17:03

Cristiano is primed to set foot on the Bernabéu pitch for the first time in almost two months. However, following Eusébio's death, the meeting with Celta has taken on special significance for the Real Madrid star, who is gunning to pay tribute to his late, great countryman by doing what he does best: scoring goals.
All of Portugal is mourning the loss of its greatest ever player and CR7 is no exception. Having picked up Eusébio's mantle as his country's talisman, Ronaldo is desperate not to let the legend down on such a special day.
Real Madrid was quick to join the tributes to Eusébio, posting a statement on its website early on Sunday morning in which the club expressed its condolences over the passing of "one of the greatest players of all time".
The tribute to Eusébio has eclipsed not just Ronaldo's long-awaited return to the Bernabéu, but also another, less eagerly awaited homecoming of sorts: that of Luis Enrique. The 'Los Blancos' fans have never hidden their disdain for the Asturian following his defection to Barcelona, and the former forward is no shrinking violet either.
Real's eagerness to give Eusébio an emotional send-off should not take away from the importance of the match for the hosts. With first Atlético and then Barça winning over the weekend, 'Los Blancos' go into the game some eight points off the top of the table. Any less than three points and the Real Madrid faithful will be in a less than festive mood as Three Kings' Day draws to a close.
