Following their meeting in Geneva today, UEFA's Executive Committee announced that Athletic de Bilbao's San Mamés stadium has been chosen as one of the thirteen venues to host the 2020 European Championships, with Wembley hosting the semi-final and final.
Bilbao was chosen alongside Copenhagen (Denmark), Bucharest (Romania), Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Dublin (Republic of Ireland), Budapest (Hungary), Brussels (Belgium) and Glasgow (Scotland) to host one game in the last sixteen and three in the group stages.
The rest of the games in this stage and the quarter-finals are scheduled to be played in Munich (Germany), which had been one of the candidates to host the semi-finals and final, Baku (Azerbaijan), Rome (Italy) and St. Petersburg (Russia).
As part of UEFA's 60th anniversary, the 2020 European Championships are set to be the first shared between several European cities.
