Montezemolo: "The news on Schumacher is not good"

By on 15:21

Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the ex-president of Ferrari, stated that he doesn't have "good news about Michael Schumacher" and he regretted the fact that, after his long Formula 1 career, a fall in the mountains has "wrecked his life". The former Ferrari boss was speaking at an event organised by the Italian newspaper 'Quattroruote'.

"I've constantly got news on Schumacher and regrettably, it's not good. He was a great driver, and we shared some great moments with him both personally and professionally. But life is strange. He is the most successful driver in the history of Formula 1. He only had one accident in 1999 and it wasn't his fault, it was ours. Regrettably an accidental fall when skiing has wrecked his life", declared Montezemolo.

The Italian who was the president of Ferrari between 1991 and 2004 wanted to clarify that the German driver wasn't a "reckless skier". "It's not true that Michael is a reckless skier, off-piste he has always been cautious. Above all he was cautious when he skied", he assured.
