After his spying mission to see Champions League opponents Galatasaray, Madrid coach José Mourinho also concluded: "Wesley Sneijder is back to being the player we all know".
Ahead of Real Madrid's Champions League quarter-final clash against Galatasaray, Real coach José Mourinho has drawn his first conclusions from his spying mission to see the Turkish outfit in domestic action against Kayserispor on Sunday.Speaking to journalists in Turkey, the Portuguese coach gave little away, saying only: "Galatasaray will be a very difficult opponent." However, Turkish newspaper 'Hurriyet' has now revealed that Mourinho watched the match alongside Shota Arveladze - coach of Turkish Super League side Kasimpasa - and told the Georgian: "Galatasaray are very strong and have a lot of quality. Wesley Sneijder is in better form and looks like the player we all know". After an hour of the match, the Dutchman rounded off his display with a goal.
Yet Mourinho's view of Didier Drogba - a player he worked with during his time as manager of Chelsea - was not so complimentary. Of the Ivorian, who has scored just once in seven appearances since his move to Turkey, the Madrid boss is said to have commented: "He isn't at the same level anymore, and he isn't at his best physically."
Mourinho was also surprised at the dedication of Galatasaray's away fans. Despite playing 600 kilometres from their home in Istanbul, a large travelling support enthusiastically cheered on their team throughout the 90 minutes, holding aloft a banner which read: "Madrid not real. Real Galatasaray".
