Alonso: "We have the result we wanted, without conceding goals"

Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuaín got the goals that put Real Madrid near the Champions League semifinals, but Portuguese coach José Mourinho stressed his team defensive vigour against Galatasaray. (Source: UEFA.com).
"We know they have a good team and fantastic strikers, but we played very well defensively. From my point of view we defended better than we attacked. We could have scored more goals, and we let some attacking positions go to waste, but defensively we analysed the opposition very well", says José Mourinho after the game at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
Xabi Alonso: "We have the result we wanted, which was not conceding goals, but in football anything can happen. There are 90 minutes in Turkey and we have to play like today, intensively. We should not take anything for granted. You have to think that the tie is equal".
Ángel Di María: "We are very happy with the win and for the three goals. At home we are strong but we have to be careful in the second leg. The whole team have done a great job, from Diego [López] to the forwards. We know they are strong at home, and they almost always win and score goals".
Gonzalo Higuaín:
"We knew we had to play the second leg in Istanbul and it is very difficult to play there. So we came out very strong today. We are very happy with the 3-0. Pepe said to me that I was going to score when we were on the bench and that is why I have dedicated the goal to him".
