Almost three years without significant injury
It seems Leo Messi has been immune to injury for several seasons now. The last time the player picked up a significant injury was on 19th September 2010, when a foul by Tomás Ujfalusi ruled out Messi for 10 days with a sprained ankle. Since then, the Argentine has had knocks and niggles, but nothing to prevent him from playing in almost every game on the fixture list. In the current campaign, Messi has only missed 119 minutes of action in La Liga, as well as the Copa del Rey ties against Alavés and Córdoba and 105 minutes in the Champions League (against Benfica and PSG).
Barcelona's match against Mallorca will be the first complete game he misses. The last time Messi did not feature in La Liga was in the 25th game of last season - against Sporting de Gijón - due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
It seems the Barça star's injury days are a thing of the past. In his (even) younger days, he sustained three hamstring injuries (2005-06 and 2007-08) which sidelined him for a total of four months. He was dealt another blow in 2006 when he injured the metatarsal in his left foot, keeping him out of action for three months.
